We created a series of 28 abstract oil-on-canvas paintings for seven floors of a Chicago law office. The challenge in designing this space was the elliptical building’s curved hallways, which precluded the use of traditional framed artwork. We worked with two color ranges and developed a suite of four paintings for each floor. Our use of gradated colors on the panels, each measuring 7' × 38', created dynamic energy down the long hallways and also provided navigational cues to orient people along the corridors.
